Vision

Vancouver is:

• A global city, the gateway to the Asia Pacific, and the world's top city to work, live and play;
• A local city, with strong neighbourhood centres where families thrive;
• A green city, with the resilience needed in times of global warming, climate change and peak oil.

Goals

• Vancouver will be fiscally prudent, economically thriving, and a hub for business, sports and the arts.
• We will be a resilient city in the new era of climate change, environmental challenges and peak oil. 
• Good land use decisions (EcoDensity) will help our citizens live healthy and fulfilled lives, involved in their communities and their city.
• Affordable housing for our young families, seniors, and citizens in need will be a priority.
• The Olympics will focus the eyes of the world on Vancouver. Our city will welcome the world and celebrate the event.
• We will take the next steps in waste management, concentrating on reducing waste in the city and region.
• Through Project Civil City and other initiatives, our streets will be safe and crime rates will continue to fall.
